About Us.

Jared and Winnie Adams met James Gleghorn over ten years ago on Mfangano Island.  Jared was the principal of the high school, Winnie was an elementary school teacher, and James was the U.S. Executive Director of the ministry serving the AIDS orphanage/boarding school.  A bond quickly formed between the three around the alignment of serving Christ in communities, supporting children, and bringing the hope of Christ to all they encountered.

Over the next few years, God continued to call Jared and Winnie back to Kombaka (Jared’s home village) to start a ministry and school.  The area around Kombaka was rife with witchcraft, evil, and a lack of resources.  In 2020, God moved on Adams’ heart that it was time to return home while Winnie continued to work for the school on Mfangano Island.  This birthed the Desire of All Nations ministry in Kenya.  In the U.S., James continued to partner with Adams and Winnie through prayer and financial support.

Over the next few years, Desire of All Nations grew to support Kombaka through church, school, and community development.  In 2023, James (now Associate Athletic Director and Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at Indiana Wesleyan University) led a team comprised of 6 players from the IWU tennis team and James’ wife Tricia to visit Jared and Winnie.

Two of the members of the trip, Ellie Snider and Alli Schellenberg, were so moved by how God was at work through Jared, Winnie, and Desire of All Nations that they wanted to do something to support the work beyond financial support.  Ellie and Alli had a vision to start a ministry in the U.S. to support the work being done.  After much prayer and communication with Jared and Winnie, the idea of Harvest for Kenya was birthed.  Ellie and Alli asked James to help them with creating a nonprofit, and the three of them saw Harvest for Kenya become a reality in the spring of 2024.
